This is the sixth year that the national Maths Hub network has been supporting schools to develop, embed and sustain mastery approaches to mathematics. Here at East Midlands South Math Hub, we are currently recruiting to the fully-funded Primary Teaching for Mastery programme for our 2022/23 entry level Work Groups.
Open Lessons
For schools that are interested in joining the programme, we are hosting four Teacher Research Groups (TRGs) – led by Primary Mastery Specialists – to demonstrate what it is like to be part of a Teaching for Mastery Work Group. These classroom teachers will demonstrate a normal mathematics lesson within a unit of teaching, modelling a mastery approach. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to discuss the design of the lesson and to consider the learning journey of their pupils – all within a framework of Teaching for Mastery.
The TRGs are happening in schools around our region. Hopefully, you will find a location not too far from your school or home. Unfortunately, places are limited at each event, so please only complete the Bookwhen if you are able to attend. To give as many schools as possible the opportunity to join a session, we would ask you only register for one Open Lesson.

Information about the sessions:
Who can attend?
These sessions are aimed at the Maths Leads of schools that have not yet joined the Primary Teaching for Mastery programme. For example, your school might be currently engaged in the Mastering Number Work Group or have recently expressed an interest in joining the PTfM programme. Perhaps your school has not previously considered joining a Maths Hub Work Group. If unsure about your school’s eligibility to attend one of these sessions, please contact the Maths Hub.
Primary Teaching for Mastery
We hope this sounds like an exciting opportunity to learn more about joining an EMS Teaching for Mastery Work Group. If you would like more general information about the programme before attending one of the above, please visit the NCETM website and more specific, regional information can be found here
