There are different models of professional and school development used within hub activity. Please find the details of these below
Work Groups have an emphasis on collaborating to support school/departmental wide development in mathematics as well as supporting individual professional learning and development. This is reflected in there being four-fold outcomes for each Work Group. Work Groups are led by a teacher (or former teacher) expert, whose expertise is in both mathematics education and in leading teacher professional development.
Sustained professional development programmes have an emphasis on supporting individual teachers or leaders of mathematics in their professional development. This is reflected in there not normally being outcomes related to school/department policy and approaches. There are two types of programmes within the NCP suite. The first is the SKTM programmes, designed to support individuals to develop specialist knowledge to improve their practice when working with pupils. The second is the LLME development programmes, designed to confidently equip the LLME to lead work with teachers/schools.
Professional learning communities also have an emphasis on supporting individual teachers or leaders of mathematics in their professional development. However, in contrast to programmes, there is an expectation that the participants will continue to work and learn together beyond one year. This is reflected in there being an outcome that focuses on community culture.
