SEND Network

The SEND Network aims to establish a network for maths leads to look at how mastery principles can be applied within Special Needs settings. Sessions will have an emphasis on building a supportive network amongst SEND Professionals to work collaboratively, share good practice, strengthen and develop maths within schools.

What's involved?

  • Three (half day) workshops, working with maths leads from other SEND schools
  • School-based reflection tasks focusing on school practices and curriculum
  • Completion of evaluations and post-workgroup reports

There is opportunity for structured conversations as well as observation of maths practice, to consider the application of approaches within SEND settings, including a TfM approach. Between sessions, participants contribute to an online community, complete school-based reflective tasks, and share their observations through discussions with peers.

What are the benefits?

  • You will have the opportunity to network and build connections with other SEND professionals across the Key Stage phases
  • You will have the opportunity to work with schools at different stages within their journey of developing a TfM approach to maths in SEND schools
  • You will review and enhance the mathematical learning opportunities and pedagogical approaches across your provision

What are the expectations?

Participants (supported by their schools) are expected to:

  • attend sessions
  • complete reflective tasks focused on practice in their schools between the sessions ready to share with others
  • engage with online communities and the evaluation process
